Monogram design for friends’ wedding.

I was asked by good friends Jess and Bento create a monogram to mark their wedding day, as well as collateral pieces for the day itself, including a programme for the wedding ceremony, guest, and table, name cards for seating places at the reception.

I was honoured and excited to take on the project. So much so that within minutes of accepting I began sketching ideas for the monogram. Within a few hours I had a refined sketch that I emailed to the couple, who were extremely happy with the design. The next stage was to create the monogram as a vector artwork and begin the layout for the printed collateral.

The guest list was long, so the best way to tackle more than 200 name cards was to create a template in InDesign, and have Jess supply an Excel spreadsheet with all first names and surnames. The mail merge feature within InDesign made light work of creating each individual guest’s name card.

The monogram was eventually de-bossed into the cover of a leather-bound photo album of the wedding day.
