Bringin’ home the Flacon

My first Flattr

So, I’ve been “flattred” for the first time for my free Billings templates!

See that “1” in the image? Cool!

Flattr is an internet micropayment system.
It works like this:

You allocate a monthly amount of funds into your Flattr account. You then go about your business on the net as usual. When you read an article, comment, see a photo etc that has a ‘flattr this’ badge (like at the bottom of this page) you click it and it saves that click to your account.

At the end of the month all the things you flattred get a split of your monthly amount (minus a little bit for the Flattr running costs).

So, if this month you added €5.25 into your account, and you flattred 10 things, those people get €0.50 deposited into their account (assuming Flattr took €0.25 for running costs).

Pretty simple. And cool. The biggest problem is coming across things to flattr. So far, in my natural internet usage I haven’t come across one single thing. In which case at the end of the month my funds go to charity.

That’s all the news I have for the moment.
As you were…
