A few weeks ago, Kelly and I made our first trip to Austin. My cousin Marty was in the US at the time so he flew across to hang out with us. Is was a pretty chilled visit — testing the waters for our next trip up. We spent the time eating, drinking, and being merry, plus a day in San Antonio to see what the Alamo was all about, a walk in a nature park to see what the owls were up to, and night at the Bass Concert Hall to see what Primus were doing in 3D.
The day after Marty flew out of Austin :( Kelly and I dodged the hoards of Longhorn fans to explore Congress St and have some awesome brekkie at that place I can’t remember the name of (but was just up the road from the best pizza n Austin: Home Slice. We didn’t eat any other pizza in Austin, but Home Slice was pretty damn good, enough to claim it as the best pizza in Austin.)
In the afternoon we did s’more explorin’ the East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) around where we were staying. In a nutshell, all the artists in East Austin open their homes and garages and let strangers wander through silently critiquing their work. Awkward to say the least, but great news for the one dude whom we bought a few pieces from, including the dinosaur planters you would’ve seen in my Instagram feed. The best piece I’ll save for it’s own spot on the premier Bart Kowalski blog. I like it that much.
At to bottom this post off, here’s a random selection of photos from the trip.
Have a nice day.
