When we visited Baltimore, Maryland, we took the history tour of Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and we’re glad we did. The history, anecdotes, and traditions of such an old baseball park1 we fascinating despite Kelly and I not being big (or little even) fans of the sport.
If you’re into trivia, history, or tales of weird superstitions and long-held traditions, I definitely recommend taking a tour of one of the famous old baseball parks throughout the US.
Bonus #1: Have a listen to this episode of the 99% Invisible podcast about the trend to build new baseball parks in the style of the old skool ones. If you like this podcast, you’ll love one of the these tours!
Bonus #2: At the time of the visit, the Houston Astros were up 3–2 in the 2017 World Series. At the time of posting, they’d won! #gostros #2017worldseries #txaf
- We were told in no uncertain terms that this was a “park” and not a “stadium”, the distinction being only baseball is played here, as opposed to a multi-use venue which may host different sports, concerts etc.
