Update
I’ve come across an issue/bug with the hover function, so I’ll be reverting back to the old non-hover-iffic footnote system for the time being. I’ve notified the original developer of the issue, so hopefully he’ll respond with a fix. Unfortunately, It might be an issue with the way I have my homepage set up, so the developer might not see it as an issue to be fixed globally. Here’s hoping though…
This is a public service announcement
From this day forth1, you’ll be able to hover over footnote reference numbers and see the footnote inline. Try it: hover your cursor over this number2.
This is possible by way of this wordpress plugin, which is fantastic, but, as a designer I needed to muck with it so it suited my personal taste. Because of my newbness, I make have broken something :( It seems to work on the Mac browsers I’ve tested it in (Safari, Firefox, Chrome)3.
Please let me know if you encounter any problems.
- Well, it’s really from this post forth, ‘cos I can’t be bothered changing all previous footnotes from the old model this the new fandagled hover-iffic version.
- Cool, no? If you’re reading this it means I haven’t screwed it up! Apologies for you touch interface user, there is no hover. Luckily, i’m still leaving the footnotes at the end of the post.
- Haven’t tried Opera, sorry if it doesn’t work there :( **Update** works in Opera 11.01 according to a commenter)
