Salsa (Grav)El Mariachi
Pretty bikes are pretty The Salsa (Grav)El Mariachi. This is the bike that pulled me through Gravel Camp earlier this year. It’s the frame from a Salsa El Mariachi I bought as a complete bike in 2014 while living in Texas. This steel frame was short-lived though; only a few months after the purchase Craigslist offered up a titanium frame — same model, same size — at a price I couldn’t pass up. Since then, the steel El Mar frame has been patiently waiting in the dark corners of the garage for a Frankenstein-ian rebirth.
The 2019 ‘Goose
Introducing The 2019 ‘Goose, with added @chriskingbuzz 1” headset and bottom bracket in shining silver, and of course the Wound Up Composites 1” road fork. A turn-of-the-century bike tweaked and modernised for today :) I think I’ve always loved straight-tubed bikes, particularly older ones with horizontal top tubes. Even when retro-modded, frames of this era look fast, sturdy, and clean. I think in the case of The new and improved ‘Goose, the Wound Up fork fits in perfectly with the aesthetic; a straight fork with a chrome crown.
Barb & Mike
Everyone on the internet, please meet Barb & Mike. These guys are the type of people that when you find ’em, you do everything in your power to keep them in your life. Ever since Barb & Mike befriended us when we first arrived to Houston, it’s been nothing by a pleasure to know them. Come and visit, we’ll introduce you personally. I’ve wanted to shoot a portrait for a long time. In fact, the first time I entered into their home I was struck by the tall windows and Houston horizon beyond.
