The Kiwis do it again

Warning — this is not a rugby post…[1. Congrats, by the way :)] What’s with these bloody Kiwis? They’re some of the most creative people in the world (and they have the best conferences). Seriously, the few times I’ve been to New Zealand and caught some ads on TV, or even at the cinema (I saw Eagle vs Shark in Auckland :), I have been jaw-droppingly blown away. And not that one ad, many ads. They just seem to have either: more creative talent than I’ve seen anywhere else more accepting and/or daring clients willing to go more and more left-of-field both?

Air New Zealand’s safety videos

My recent flight to New Zealand was with Air New Zealand, and of course, included the boring as batshit video on aircraft safety :( No, wait. That was a lie. The boring as batshit video on aircraft safety that accompanies every other flight of every other airline I’ve ever been on does not fly with Air New Zealand[1. See what I did there?]. No, Air New Zealand’s safety videos are feckin’ awesome! For three reasons: They are entertaining and funny.

Branding: Seek staff etiquette video

Seek Australia has an annual staff function at the end of each financial year. The video presentation during this function has become a real highlight of the night. The presentation needs to be humourous, and show many of the events, photos and videos that have transpired during the past 12 months. This year we decided to brand, or theme, the presentation with a 50s style, and base the concept on staff ettiquette. With the concept in mind I researched advertising from the period to get a sense of the style, colours and graphics used throughout that period.
